IMPORTANT UPDATES

We wanted to share some important updates about what’s coming next at Calm Collective.

Firstly, thank you.

Thank you for your feedback, your support, your patience, your energy, and for continuing to choose us as part of your wellbeing journey. We genuinely listen to what you tell us, and many of the changes we’re making are a direct result of conversations we’ve had with our community over the last few months.

More Classes, More Teachers, More Community

We’ve heard your requests loud and clear.

Over the coming months we’ll be:

  • Adding new classes to the timetable
  • Bringing back more of your favourite teachers
  • Introducing new workshops and special events
  • Expanding our Pay What You Can offering
  • Creating even more opportunities for our community to connect and practice together

We’re excited about what’s ahead and can’t wait to share more with you.

Booking Policy Changes

We’ve also heard the frustration around cancelled spaces, empty mats in fully waitlisted classes, and people missing out on sessions they wanted to attend.

Truthfully, we share that frustration.

From 1st July, our booking policies will be changing:

Late Cancellation Window

  • Increasing from 3 hours to 6 hours before class
  • For context, many gyms and studios operate with a 12-hour cancellation policy

No Show Fee

  • Increasing to £10

When classes are full and people don’t attend or cancel too late, it prevents others from joining and means valuable community spaces sit empty.

Please remember that classes can be cancelled easily through the website or app, and if you’re on a waitlist and can no longer attend, you can remove yourself at any time.

These policies aren’t designed to punish anyone; they’re there to help ensure spaces are used fairly and are available to those who genuinely want them.

Membership & Pass Price Changes

We know nobody enjoys receiving news about price increases. The truth is, we don’t enjoy sending them either.

Since reopening after the last lockdown, we have kept our prices exactly the same despite rising rent, business rates, utilities, insurance, software costs and general operating expenses.

Like everything else around us, our costs have increased significantly.

For a long time we’ve absorbed those increases because accessibility has always been at the heart of what we do. But we have reached a point where we need our pricing to reflect the reality of running two community-focused studios.

If we want to continue providing the classes, teachers, community projects and accessible services that make Calm Collective what it is, we need to make these changes.

Existing Members

As a thank you for your loyalty, existing members will remain on their current membership price until 1st September.

After that date, your membership will increase by £10 per month at your next renewal date.

As always, memberships remain completely flexible and can be cancelled at any time.

However, if you cancel and later decide to rejoin, you will rejoin on the new membership rates.

If you’re currently not a member and have been considering joining, any memberships started before 1st July will remain at the current rate until September.

Accessibility Remains Our Priority

While prices are increasing, our commitment to accessibility is not changing.

We will continue to offer:

  • Discounts for students
  • Discounts for Blue Light Card holders
  • Discounts for over 60s
  • Our discretionary financial support membership for those who need additional help
  • Pay What You Can classes, with even more being added to the timetable soon

Why This Matters

Unlike many studios, Calm Collective still operates as part of a Community Interest Company.

We do not exist to generate profit.

Every membership, class pass and workshop ticket helps us provide:

  • Accessible yoga for people with disabilities
  • Kids & teens yoga programmes for disadvantaged young people
  • Community wellbeing projects
  • Pay What You Can classes
  • Subsidised spaces for those experiencing financial hardship

Your support helps us keep doing that work.

These changes are not about making more money.

They’re about keeping the doors open, supporting our teachers fairly, sustaining our community programmes, and ensuring Calm Collective is here for many years to come.

We know this isn’t easy news to receive, and it certainly wasn’t easy for us to make these decisions.

If you’re reading this and feeling concerned about affordability, please talk to us. We know times are tough, and we’ve built Calm Collective on the belief that wellbeing shouldn’t only be available to those who can easily afford it. Between our discretionary discounts, Pay What You Can classes and community initiatives, there may be options available to support you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you, as always, for your understanding, your trust, and for being part of this incredible community.
